As you read this, it is likely that life has been demanding for a while. You may have managed to hold it all together at work and at home, although you are not sure how much longer you can go on.
Others may not see that your thoughts never stop and often create worst-case scenarios. They may not see how difficult it is to motivate yourself to face another day, or how you can go from feeling okay to absolutely not okay in seconds, with calming down feeling slow and exhausting. Emotions can hit too hard and too fast, and the fear of rejection never fully leaves.
Perhaps you have experienced difficult life events, leaving you feeling lost, confused, and questioning why you are not “over it” yet. Or perhaps stress has been ongoing, and you find yourself wondering if it will ever end, or if life will ever feel normal again.
People may say they do not know how you manage—and, at times, neither do you. All you know is that even the simplest things take immense effort, and that you are tired of carrying it all.
At some point, you may decide it is time for therapy. Over time, you may begin to notice your thoughts slowing, no longer creating daily catastrophes in your mind. Motivation can begin to return, and there may even be small glimmers of joy. Emotions that once felt like white-water rafting may begin to feel more like a gently moving rowing boat.
Therapy with Iris offers a space where there is no need to pretend, and where all emotions are welcome. Her approach is warm, safe, and grounded, and each client sets the pace. If you are unsure where to start, that is okay—this can be worked out together.
Iris works from the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and is a registered psychotherapist with the BABCP. Together, she and her clients explore—with kindness and curiosity—how thoughts and behaviours can maintain unhelpful patterns, and how change is possible. The approaches used are evidence-based and have helped many others. Over time, difficult life experiences can become more manageable, fear can soften, and confidence can begin to grow. With greater clarity, it becomes easier to move towards a life that feels calmer, steadier, and more your own.
Iris supports individuals with:

- Low mood and depression
