About Carla

Carla is a qualified relational integrative counsellor, registered with the BACP. This means she uses a combination of therapeutic approaches, working collaboratively with clients to create a way of working that is tailored to their therapeutic needs. She offers an open-minded, non-judgemental space to explore your world as you experience it. A safe therapeutic relationship based on mutual trust and understanding is the most important factor in her approach to counselling.

Therapeutic Approach

While she mainly takes a Person-Centred approach, Carla also draws from Interpersonal Neurobiology, Trauma and Attachment theory, as well as using creative tools and mindfulness techniques. She has a holistic view of distress and believes it can be caused and affected by our life experiences and external environmental factors, as well as how our body responds to the world around us. Her integrative approach allows for flexible work that encourages resilience to facing challenges, increased self-compassion, a deeper understanding of the self and developing tangible tools for coping.

Therapeutic Values

Carla believes counselling and mental health support should be accessible and inclusive to everyone, regardless of their age, sex, gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, culture or religious beliefs. She likes to work collaboratively with clients to combine her knowledge and training with the client’s expertise of their own life experience.

She understands that counselling can require you to try and be vulnerable and show up as authentically as you can, often uncovering hard truths. Therefore, she takes a client-centred, non-judgemental approach, working alongside you with empathy and authenticity.
