What is Trauma?
Trauma is a lasting emotional, physical or mental response to an overwhelmingly distressing or threatening event that overwhelms a person’s coping capacity. The trauma can be a single event such as an accident or a long-term situation such as abuse. How each person responds to trauma is different. But common responses include fear, or a feeling of shame or helplessness that can manifest. Many people may also experience symptoms like anxiety, flashback and other physical issues.

If you have experienced a traumatic event, you may feel socially disconnected and somewhat numb which can lead to feelings of isolation.
Psychological trauma is the mind’s reaction to an event. Not everyone will react to the same event. Trauma affects people in different ways. For some, the symptoms can take weeks, months or even years to surface.
It is also important to consider that there are different severities of psychological trauma. Some symptoms are mild and may go away with time, while others can be more severe and need professional intervention which is why My Solution Wellbeing comes in.
