We have a dedicated team based in Nottingham and our counsellors who cover the whole of Nottinghamshire are trained in Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) , Person centred counselling , Motivational Interviewing Therapy and Mindfulness practise.

We all experience stress differently in different situations. Sometimes you might be able to tell right away when you’re feeling under stress, but other times you might keep going without recognising the signs. Stress can affect you both emotionally and physically, and it can affect the way you behave.

Stress can affect all aspects of your life, including your emotions, behaviour, thinking ability and physical health. No part of the body is immune, but, because people handle stress differently, symptoms of stress can vary.

Symptoms can be vague and may be the same as those caused by medical conditions. You may experience any of the following symptoms of stress.

Emotional symptoms of stress include:

  • Becoming easily agitated, frustrated and moody
  • Feeling overwhelmed, like you are losing control or need to take control
  • Having difficulty relaxing and quieting your mind
  • Feeling bad about yourself (low self-esteem), lonely, worthless and depressed
  • Avoiding others.

Physical symptoms of stress include:

  • Low energy
  • Headaches
  • Upset stomach, including diarrhoea, constipation and nausea
  • Aches, pains, and tense muscles
  • Chest pain and rapid heartbeat
  • Insomnia
  • Frequent colds and infections
  • Loss of sexual desire and/or ability
  • Nervousness and shaking, ringing in the ear
  • Cold or sweaty hands and feet
  • Excess sweating
  • Dry mouth and difficulty swallowing
  • Clenched jaw and grinding teeth.

One recommendation commonly offered by doctors is counselling and psychotherapy. Talking with a professional about the difficulties you’re experiencing can help you understand any underlying issues that may be causing your stress – for example, low self-esteem.

Working with My Solution Wellbeing counsellors, you will then be able to identify your personal stress triggers and discuss ways of coping with them.

One form of therapy recommended by My Solution Wellbeing for those struggling with stress is mindfulness. This approach comes from a Buddhist meditation technique and focuses on paying attention to the present moment, rather than worrying about past or future events. Whilst focusing on the present moment you are encouraged to notice how your body is feeling and what thoughts come and go, without judgement.

The My Solution Team of counsellors are expertly trained in Mindfulness practise and also offer other psychological therapies to support you with stress.

Costs for the counselling start from £40-£50 an hour depending on location. Extra costs may apply if you are out of the 10 mile radius from our clinic.

We are a counselling and wellbeing service providing support for adults, children businesses schools and communities. My Solution Wellbeing provides professional counselling anywhere, through a computer, tablet or smartphone or face to face.

After you contact us, we will match you to an available counsellor who fits your objectives, required preferences, and the type of concerns you are dealing with. Different counsellors have different approaches and areas of focus and you can find this here, so it’s important to find the right person who can achieve the best results for you and your areas of concern. We have found that we are able to provide a successful match; however, if you have a session with a therapist and you feel your counsellor isn’t a good fit for you, you are course able to change this and be matched to a different counsellor. It is led by you.

Our counsellors are all qualified, experienced trained, and accredited. They have a different approaches such as Person Centered, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy or CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focussed Therapy and much more. They have been qualified and certified by their professional board after successfully completing the necessary education, exams, training and practice. We take this very seriously and as a result, our team ensures that each therapist is fully qualified vetted and in good standing. Counsellors are required to provide documentation, proof of identity, and references. We thoroughly cross-check their qualifications, references and information as well as completing a DBS (Disclosure Barring Service) Check. Our head of Service will also ask for feedback from the client about the therapist should they wish to give it.

Payment is made prior to your session over the phone.

If you decide you would like further sessions, you can pay for further sessions by direct bank payment or payment machine.  You can discuss this with your therapist on how to book further sessions. There may be an option to have a reduced rate if you purchase a few sessions in advance. Please refer to blockbooking.

Payment must be made in advance of appointment.

 

If you can’t attend please give 48 hours notice and your appointment will be moved to a mutually agreed date. Failure to do this will result in payment lost. Please note we do not offer refunds, however, we can offer a credit note valid for 1 month.
