What types of therapy work for Anxiety Disorders
At My Solution Wellbeing Counselling Durham offers different types of anxiety counselling depending on the nature and needs of the individual or group in question and their type of anxiety. Some of the types of anxiety counselling we offer include:
CBT therapy Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a type of anxiety counselling that focuses on helping change the way you think about anxiety and panic attacks. It is considered one of the most effective types of anxiety counselling. This type of counselling can help you understand your thoughts, feelings and how you contribute to your anxiety.
Interpersonal therapy: This type of counselling focuses on helping people improve their relationship with other people. Interpersonal therapy can help you communicate better, set boundaries and resolve conflict. This type of relationship might be the right type of counselling for employees that struggle with relationships at work and in their private life.
Exposure therapy: Exposure therapy helps you to face your triggers head-on in a safe and controlled environment. For anxiety, this may mean gradually exposing yourself to the situations or objects that make you anxious. The goal is to help you learn that your anxiety doesn’t control you and you can face your fears without being overwhelmed.
Acceptance and commitment therapy:
Acceptance and commitment therapy is slightly different and is based on the idea that it’s not our thoughts or feelings that cause distress but rather our relationship. ACT therapy can help you develop a more accepting, mindful attitude towards your inner experience which can lead to decreased anxiety and suffering.
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy : Combines mindfulness meditation with cognitive tools to help break cycles of chronic worry and stay anchored in the present.
Applied Relaxation: Trains you to intentionally relax your muscles during moments when anxiety or stressful triggers start to rise.
Psychodynamic Therapy: Explores unconscious forces, past experiences, and hidden emotional conflicts to provide deep, lasting relief
