Discover How Counselling Can Help

Emotional wellbeing is an important part of living a healthy and balanced life. When worries, difficult experiences or personal challenges begin affecting your confidence or happiness, counselling provides an opportunity to explore what’s happening with the support of a qualified therapist.

People choose counselling for many different reasons. You may be experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, bereavement or relationship difficulties. Others attend therapy because they want to improve self confidence, better understand themselves or develop healthier ways of managing everyday life.

Counselling is not about being told what to do. Instead, it encourages you to explore your own experiences, recognise patterns in your thinking and behaviour, and develop practical strategies that support positive change. Over time, many people find themselves feeling more resilient, emotionally balanced and confident in dealing with future challenges.

At My Solution Wellbeing Liverpool, our therapists tailor every counselling journey to the individual. By combining recognised therapeutic approaches with compassionate support, we help clients create lasting improvements that extend well beyond the therapy room.

Types of Therapy And Counselling Offered in Liverpool

When you choose to come for counselling, we can offer various types of counselling tailored to the unique nature of the challenges you’re facing or the struggles you want to address. Some of the types of counselling and therapy we offer include:

Relationship counselling

Relationships can sometimes feel stuck if you have to revisit the same issues repeatedly. Sometimes, it can be just one thing that happened that you can seem to let go of. Seeking relationship counselling can help you address these issues and become more successful in your relationship, ultimately leading to a healthier and more fulfilling relationship.

Bereavement counselling

The pain of losing a loved one is unfathomable, and sometimes, the loss can also drag your mental health into the trenches as well. Bereavement counselling is not designed to keep you from mourning, but instead, to help you mourn more effectively, understanding mourning and its importance to your mental and emotional health. Counselling also provides you with the support you need through this difficult time.

Children counselling

We also provide children counselling designed to support and care for children as they go through changes in their lives. Children’s counselling is particularly important because the factors that affect them can have a lasting impact on their adult life. Children’s counselling is particularly important if you start noticing changes in their behaviour or after significant life events such as moving, divorce or the death of someone they were close to.

Anxiety counselling

Anxiety counselling is a great way to address the thoughts, behaviours and feelings that contribute to anxiety. The counsellor also works with you to develop coping strategies and techniques to manage anxious thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, among other benefits, such as relaxation techniques that you can try.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a type of therapy that has been shown to be effective for a range of mental and emotional health concerns, including depression and anxiety. CBT may help you change unhealthy and unhelpful ways of thinking, behaving and feeling and also help you build more positive and constructive habits.

Stress Counselling

Stress counselling focuses on helping individuals understand, manage and cope with stress. It provides a safe space for individuals to explore the sources of their stress and identify the sources of stress, developing coping mechanisms in the process.

Find quick answers to common questions about our services, appointments, and support options.

How much you pay for counselling in Liverpool will depend on the nature of your situation and the outcome of your assessment, among other factors. On average, the cost of one session is £50, but this may increase depending on the session length and whether other modalities of therapy are required. You can refer to the prices on our website for a clearer guideline.

Yes, it is possible to choose the gender of the counsellor and the background. We also ensure you get a counsellor who is most suited and experienced to address your concerns.

Our Counselling Approaches

Effective therapy begins by recognising that every individual is different. Your experiences, personality and goals are unique, which is why our Liverpool therapists draw upon a range of recognised counselling approaches rather than relying on one single method.

During your first appointments, your therapist will take time to understand what has brought you to counselling before recommending the approach that best supports your needs. Therapy can also adapt as your circumstances change, ensuring your sessions continue to provide meaningful support.

Integrative Therapy

Integrative therapy combines techniques from a variety of counselling models to create an approach that reflects your individual circumstances. Rather than following a fixed structure, sessions can evolve as your therapy progresses, allowing support to remain relevant throughout your journey.

This personalised style helps ensure counselling continues meeting your needs as your confidence and understanding grow.

Person Centred Counselling

Person centred counselling provides a safe, accepting environment where you remain at the heart of every session. Your therapist offers empathy, encouragement and understanding while allowing you to guide the direction and pace of therapy.

Many clients find this approach helps improve confidence, emotional awareness and self acceptance while encouraging long term personal growth.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy explores the relationship between your thoughts, emotions and behaviours. By recognising patterns that contribute to anxiety, stress or depression, you can begin replacing them with healthier ways of thinking and responding.

The practical techniques learned during CBT often continue supporting everyday wellbeing long after counselling has ended.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Past experiences can influence how we think, behave and relate to others without us always recognising their impact. Psychodynamic therapy helps uncover these deeper emotional patterns, providing valuable insight into the issues that may still be affecting your wellbeing today.

Developing this understanding can lead to healthier relationships, increased confidence and lasting emotional change.

How We Help You Move Forward

Counselling is about creating positive change that extends beyond your therapy sessions. Our Liverpool therapists work collaboratively with you, providing professional guidance, emotional support and practical strategies that help you better understand yourself while building confidence for the future.

Every session is designed around your individual goals, allowing therapy to progress in a way that feels comfortable and meaningful.

Providing a Space Where You Can Be Yourself

Many people arrive at counselling feeling unsure about opening up. Our therapists create a calm, confidential environment where you can talk honestly about your experiences without worrying about judgement or criticism.

Feeling safe to express yourself openly often becomes the starting point for meaningful personal growth.

Understanding What Is Really Happening

Sometimes emotional challenges are linked to patterns or experiences that aren’t immediately obvious. Through thoughtful discussion and careful exploration, counselling helps you better understand the thoughts, beliefs and emotions that may be influencing your wellbeing.

This greater awareness often leads to healthier decisions and improved emotional resilience.

Developing Practical Skills for Everyday Life

Therapy should provide benefits that continue outside the counselling room. Throughout your sessions, your therapist will introduce practical techniques that help you manage stress, reduce anxiety, improve communication and respond more confidently to difficult situations.

These skills become valuable tools that support your wellbeing long after therapy has finished.

Building a Stronger Future

Our aim is to help you achieve more than short term relief. Whether your goal is overcoming a specific challenge, strengthening relationships or improving your overall mental wellbeing, our Liverpool counselling team will support you in building lasting confidence, resilience and emotional wellbeing.

When Should You Consider Counselling in Liverpool?

Everyone experiences periods where life feels more difficult than usual. Sometimes these challenges are linked to a specific event, while other times feelings of anxiety, sadness or emotional exhaustion develop gradually without a clear reason. Whatever you’re facing, counselling provides a confidential environment where you can better understand your emotions and begin moving forward with professional support.

Seeking therapy doesn’t mean you’ve failed to cope. It means you’ve recognised the value of investing in your emotional wellbeing. Whether you’re managing a recent life event or long standing emotional difficulties, our Liverpool therapists are here to help you make meaningful progress.

Anxiety and Persistent Worry

Living with anxiety can leave you feeling constantly on edge, making it difficult to relax, concentrate or enjoy everyday life. You may experience racing thoughts, panic attacks, social anxiety or excessive worrying that begins affecting work, relationships or your confidence.

Counselling helps you understand the causes of anxiety while developing practical coping strategies that allow you to feel calmer, more confident and better equipped to manage everyday challenges.

Depression and Emotional Exhaustion

Depression affects everyone differently. Some people experience persistent sadness, while others struggle with motivation, energy levels or a loss of enjoyment in daily life.

Our therapists provide compassionate support while helping you explore the underlying causes of your emotional wellbeing and develop practical strategies that encourage gradual recovery and renewed confidence.

Workplace Stress and Burnout

The demands of modern working life can sometimes become overwhelming. Long hours, increasing responsibilities and the pressure to constantly perform can eventually affect both your physical and emotional wellbeing.

Counselling provides an opportunity to step back, understand the sources of stress and develop healthier ways of managing pressure before it begins affecting other areas of your life.

Trauma and Difficult Life Experiences

Traumatic experiences can continue influencing your thoughts, emotions and relationships long after the event itself has passed. Whether you’re processing childhood experiences, bereavement, abuse or another significant life event, therapy offers a safe environment where recovery can begin.

Our therapists work sensitively and at a pace that feels comfortable for you, helping you rebuild confidence while supporting long term emotional healing.

Relationship and Family Challenges

Relationships can bring great happiness, but they can also become a source of emotional pain when communication breaks down or conflict becomes ongoing.

Counselling can help individuals and couples improve communication, better understand relationship dynamics and develop healthier ways of resolving disagreements while strengthening emotional connections.

Bereavement and Major Life Changes

Experiencing the loss of someone important or adapting to significant changes can leave you feeling uncertain, isolated or overwhelmed.

Counselling provides understanding, guidance and emotional support while helping you process grief and gradually adjust to your new circumstances without pressure or judgement.

Personal Development and Greater Self Confidence

Many people attend counselling because they want to build confidence, improve self esteem or better understand themselves. Therapy offers valuable opportunities for reflection, helping you recognise your strengths while developing healthier ways of thinking, communicating and responding to life’s challenges.

My 13 yr old daughter has been coming to see Nuha for 3 months now, to help with anxiety and other issues that have affected her school attendance and sleep. From day one Nuha has been nothing but kind, helpful and extremely knowledgeable, she said that she would definitely be able to help my daughter, and she wasnt wrong! Started with weekly sessions that have now dropped to every 2 weeks, my daughter is doing amazingly well, her mental health has improved so much, and shes back in school full time. My daughter loves her and really looks forward to her sessions. A massive thank you and I hugely recommend Nuha.

Me and my partner had some sessions with santosh, she was a lovely lady super friendly, understanding and kind. She really helped our relationship do a complete 180. I would a hindred percent recommend.
Ms. Sophia is an exceptionally kind and empathetic person who truly cares about her patients. She listens attentively and creates a safe atmosphere that makes it easy to open up. Thanks to therapy with her, I was able to organize my thoughts and gain a new perspective on many things. I can wholeheartedly say that Ms. Sophia is a therapist truly worth recommending.
Sophia has been absolutely amazing in supporting my young person. From the very start, she created a safe, understanding, and encouraging space which has really helped them to open up and make such wonderful progress.

Sophia is patient, professional, and genuinely cares, and it’s been clear throughout that she is fully committed to helping them grow and move forward.

Working with Jackie has been an incredibly supportiveexperience. She helped me feel safe enough to explore my attachment patterns and guided me through understanding where some of my struggles came from. Her compassion and insight gave me the space to reflect without judgement, and I’ve started to appreciate myself in ways I never thought possible. I feel more connected, more confident, and more accepting of who I am. I’m so grateful for the steady support, warmth, and encouragement she has shown me on this journey.

ive been attending counselling here for nearly a year now and I honestly can't express how grateful I am for the experience. when i first began, i was in a very low place, struggling with self esteem and family issues and just feeling completely off track in my life. working with Sally, my counsellor, has been life changing. she has always been warm, welcoming, and incredibly validating. from the beginning, i felt safe and understood, which made it so much easier for me to open up and work through what I was going through. knowing that I was speaking to a professional who genuinely listened and offered thoughtful guidance made a huge difference. now i feel so much more like myself again. my mood, my confidence, and my general outlook have all improved significantly. ive even reached the point where i feel i don’t need to attend sessions as often, simply because I’m doing so much better. if you're considering counselling, I can't recommend this place, and Sally in particular, enough. it has truly helped me get back on track.

Sharon is fantastic and really helped me through a significant life change. She asked very pertinent questions which made me reconsider things in ways which my family and friends could not. It was great to have an outsider and a professionals perspective on everything. After a few months of therapy with Sharon I feel like myself again and am ready to be the best version of me. Sharon is incredibly warm and was easy to talk to from the first session. Thank you so much!

Made an enquiry via the online chat function and was contacted within an hour. We were offered a choice of appointments including weekends which makes things so much easier as I’m in full time employment. Nindie contacted us that day to introduce herself and give all the relevant information for our upcoming appointment.
Nindie made us at ease straight away, stayed neutral and compassionate at all times. She made no Judgments and listen to both myself and my partner and offered guidance and tools so we could work through our issues together.

This was my first counselling session with Veer. I felt welcomed and at ease from the beginning, as Veer was very kind and created a safe, non-judgemental space for me to speak openly. He listened attentively and showed genuine empathy, which helped me feel comfortable sharing my thoughts. Even tho it was just one session i felt relief being about to talk about my feelings.

Thank you so much Veer 🙂

I have been seeing Di for about 3 months and can honestly say it was the best decision I have made. Di is an extremely competent and experienced Therapist and I really feel that I am making improvements in my thought processes and other issues I am working on. I feel that it is very important that you and your therapist “Gel” in order to benefit as much as possible from the sessions. I definitely “Gel” with Di. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her and I really value her input.

I worked with Santosh after feeling overwhelmed with balancing a difficult work situation, family life and self doubt. I felt the issues were very isolated to the last couple of years and was sceptical of starting the timeline process- going right back to my first memories but it did definitely help and it was definitely the right process. I am quite a self aware person but talking it through in detail and having someone understand the situations and help put things in order was definitely useful. During the course I really felt things becoming much easier in day to day life and since finishing I feel that balance I was after has returned. I've come away with mechanisms to ensure situations don't happen again and if they do, better ways to deal with them. I didn't really think I needed the therapy but I'm so glad I did it and would recommend people get in touch if they even begin to feel it might be useful, it's well worth it.

I’ve never been one to open up to people, but my weekly sessions with Sophia have changed that. For the first time, I’ve been able to express my feelings honestly and feel truly heard. She has helped me reignite dreams I thought I had buried long ago.

For so long, I was convinced I wasn’t strong enough or good enough — but Sophia has opened my eyes. Her insight, empathy, and wisdom have given me the confidence to believe in my own potential again.

Working with her has been nothing short of transformative. My sessions with Sophia are one of the greatest things I’ve ever done for myself, and I will always be grateful.

I had several sessions with Lynsey and found them to be very helpful in working through my trauma related issues. She was very easy to talk with and had some very useful steps for me to work through to better understand the issues. I felt as though a weight had been lifted after years of carrying emotional burden. I'd highly recommend booking with Lynsey as her approach just makes things seem much clearer and easier to manage. She's kind, caring and professional and you'll be instantly put at ease during what can be quite a daunting process but she helped me get there. Thank you Lynsey ❤️

I had the pleasure of working with Sharon for 5 sessions. It was my first experience with counselling, and I felt quite nervous at first.
Sharon's gentle approach to assessment and caring nature quickly put me at ease, and I began to look forward to our sessions. The entire experience was enlightening, and I would gladly return to Sharon for more sessions if I ever needed to explore new issues.
I can't recommend her highly enough; she truly understood me and helped me reflect on aspects of myself that I had previously overlooked. She provided me with thought-provoking strategies to tackle the dilemmas I was facing, and I'm pleased to say that, with the support that Sharon gave me, I'm progressing very well with the decisions that I made. Although my time with Sharon was brief, I'm very thankful for it.

I can’t recommend Jag enough. From the very first session, she made me feel completely at ease. I used to worry about what I’d talk about in therapy, but with Jag, the conversations flowed so naturally. She has a calming presence and a way of gently guiding the discussion that made it easy for me to open up and talk through things I’d been holding in for years.

Thanks to her support, I’ve gained so much clarity and feel lighter, more grounded, and more in control of my emotions. She helped me understand myself better and gave me the tools to move forward with more confidence.

If you’re thinking about starting therapy, Jag is an incredible therapist—warm, intuitive, and truly supportive. I’m so grateful I found her

For anyone who is able to work with sharon, know that you are incredibly patient, kind, and caring hands.

I had the honour of working with her for a year on a patient/therapist basis and I could not have asked for better support.

I work well with visuals to explain situations I'm experiencing and she had no trouble at working with and expanding visuals as I worked through things with her.

I'm actually really sad to move on (even though that is obviously a good thing!)

She's absolutely brilliant and deserves every bit of praise that can be given to her!

Myself and my partner found Lynsey to be very approachable and easy to talk to. She helped us to feel comfortable having difficult conversations and offered support in helping with mental health. Unfortunately we couldn't continue sessions due to work and busy life schedules but I would highly recommend Lynsey for counselling if anyone was looking.

What a wonderful service provided by Jag at My Solution Wellbeing (Leicester)! If it wasn't for her I would still be struggling with my mental health. In just a few sessions she helped to unravel my thoughts, provided a safe and nurturing environment for me to open up and gave me solutions to take forward. She's also incredibly warm, extremely knowledgeable and an excellent listener which are crucial qualities in an effective counsellor. If you're ever considering getting counselling, please try this service! You won't be disappointed.

I would like to thank Diane for helping me and supporting my personal growth. She is so easy to talk to and creates a very calm and safe environment for you to open up in. She supported me with overcoming addiction by implementing a clear and easy to follow structure which worked very well for me and still does. At first I was a little bit reluctant about therapy, but after my first session with Diane the weight that had been lifted off my shoulders was amazing and I was back every week. For anyone struggling with addiction of any sort or just need someone to listen, I would highly recommend MySolution Wellbeing. Thank you so much Diane 🙂
